said Friday it’s planning a new office in Athens to support organic growth in Greece to house a new payments innovation lab. JPMorgan said it will hire about 50 people initially, while existing investment banking and wealth management employees will also move to the new office. The bank’s payments innovation lab plans to step up the bank’s work around Onyx by J.P. Morgan and around its blockchain products including distributed ledger technology, artificial intelligence and cryptography related to payments systems. In 1968, J.P. Morgan opened its first offices in Greece in Piraeus and Athens.
