Upbring is a little-known nonprofit company that works from the city of Austin to serve more than eleven thousand children in the state. The three main ministries of the organization are foster care, education, and resettlement. Upbring has over seventy-five locations throughout Texas and has a goal of protecting children living in dangerous or unhealthy situations.

“We don’t want to just keep doing what we do from a programming perspective. We want to start adding some value in terms of measuring the impact on the child. What do our programs actually do while we have them,” Upbring’s President and CEO Michael P. Loo said to KVUE ABC – a local news network – during an interview.

Upbringing is a one hundred million dollar organization & five to seven percent of the budget they have comes from what they raise through private fundraising. To increase their ability to get donations and earn more money for their mission, Upbringing has created a program that allows them to accept donations in cryptocurrency in addition to traditional money. The startup has also created a cryptocurrency endowment.

“We actually hold their bitcoin, Ethereum, hundreds of other cryptocurrencies and that fund grows over time. We pull just a little bit of the gains to fund our projects that we’re working on,” said Ryan Park, the vice president of innovation for Upbringing.

“We really believe we have a really bright future for this. It’s not going to come without challenges and bumps and so forth, but we’re gonna rock!” said Loo when describing the program.
